Notes from Home now has 2,283 followers! I was supposed to give a “gift” to the 2010th follower, but he/she beat me to it. So, to add a little twist, a donation of Php500.00 shall be given to a charity chosen by the 2,500th follower or whoever can give me the name (common and scientific) of the plant pictured above - whoever comes first. I forgot to ask for its name so I’ve been calling it “plant with shavings.”
The nonprofit organization should be one of Ayala Foundation USA’s partners, listed here. Keep in mind that Php500.00 can feed a child for a month, plant five seedlings, provide support to a cancer-stricken patient, and so on and so forth. Choose the cause that speaks to you the most, or one that you deem has the most urgent need. The donation will be made in the “winner’s” name.
Thank you for reading my posts.
Working on a Saturday (today). So forgive me if I post a photo of my workspace, just because. I love seeing where people work, how they fix it up according to their liking, creating a cozy little nook for themselves.
As you can see, I have a map of the US and of the Philippines on the left side of my ancient monitor (very important for my job - the maps, not the century-old screen), a cut out figure of a lizard above a painting done by a colleague and friend (hidden behind some document), and a few quotes on the other side of the monitor, one of which is:
“Find a calling and then deliver.” -Seth Godin
More workspaces here. Better yet, go ahead and post a photo of your own workspace/studyspace here, too! (You can reply with a photo to this post by clicking on the small camera on the upper right corner of this post box.)
p.s.
A big thank you and a happy hello to everyone who’s following this blog. For starters, it’d be great if you can let me know where you are reading this blog from? You can be as specific as you want, but your country will do.
“The team won first prize in the Game Design category for their entry ‘Wildfire’ during this year’s Microsoft Imagine Cup held at Warsaw, Poland. The team was also a finalist for ‘The Envisioning 2020’ Award.
With Wildfire, the goal is to fulfill tasks related to seven Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations must be accomplished. Societal issues in the form of agents and “tweets” providing facts about UN concerns are encountered along the course of finishing the tasks. The more volunteers you get per task, the faster you finish the game.”
I love inspired ideas that are put into action! Congratulations, Team Implication! Where can I get the game?
