As of 3pm yesterday (Tues Dec 6, 2011) - we got the formal permit for Rock the Riles this year!
We got to meet with the new MRT 3 Director Honorio Vitasa despite his busy schedule and he patiently listened to me explain what Rock the Riles is and why we do it every year. He was very receptive, thank God. Ang hirap pala mag explain ulit from zero! :P Halong excited at impatient kasi pero kailangang magpakilala ulit dahil bago ang direktor. (okey lang, sabak!) Half begging (kasi nga this Sunday na yun) and half kunwari hindi ako desperado (para hindi siya ma-inis) habang nagpapaliwanag kung bakit namin kailangan ng permit.
After meeting the Director, he told us to meet up with the super supportive engineers of the DOTC-MRT3 Administration. Some of them have been helping out RTR since 2005. Yay! Engineer Bongon, Sir Ting, Sir James, and Sir Ricky explained to us which outlets we can use and which platform stage needs adjusting. (So, huwag magulat kung iba yung pwesto ng stage sa ibang mga stasyon this year.)
We have a few days to set everything up.
So — the 7th Rock the Riles is ON.
Rock the Riles is a gathering of artists to celebrate Human Rights Day. It is held every Sunday closest to Human Rights Day. This year it will be on December 11th. 8 simultaneous gigs in 8 MRT (train) stations, North Edsa, Quezon Ave, Cubao, Shaw, Boni, Buendia, Ayala, and Taft stations. (8 out of the 13 MRT 3 stations)
Please standby for list of performers, we will do our best to speed up confirmations.
Thank you for understanding our pace this year. Ika nga ng Nanay ko, ura-urada! Pero best efforts tayong lahat.
Salamat!
